The Ministry of Finance has started testing its new electronic uniform invoice system at three convenience chain stores starting last weekend. The eco-friendly alternative is expected to save 80,000 trees per year. However, some people think it's a little inconvenient for them to hold different cards to store their receipts from different shops.

Starting on Saturday, consumers will no longer have to wait for cash registers to print out their receipts at 7-11, Hi-Life, and PX Mart stores.

The Ministry of Finance began testing its new electronic uniform invoice system at 27 of the three convenience chains' stores over the weekend, and many consumers praised the system as eco-friendly and convenient.

However, some also say it will be inconvenient to own different cards for different stores.

7-11 accepts i-cash cards and EasyCards, while Hi-Life accepts its own membership cards and EasyCards.

PX Mart also only accepts its own membership cards. One store proactively contacts consumers about winning invoice numbers via SMS or mail, while another only checks consumer receipts when they use their card at the store.

According to the MOF, 8 billion uniform invoices are issued annually, and the electronic system will save at least 80,000 trees per year.

Department stores will also begin utilizing the new system next year, but the paper system will remain in use for those that need them to apply for reimbursements.

As EasyCards do not have registered users, those that lose their cards will also lose any receipts stored on them.

The MOF hopes to start storing receipts on credit cards and cash cards in the future.
