New Home Loan Program
In a bid to make homeownership more affordable for the younger generations, the government has just rolled out a new home loan program that not only raises the maximum amount to 5 million NT dollars but also expands the age limit to 45. However, many civil groups still consider it far from adequate to solve Taiwan's housing problems.
Lin was married 2 years ago. Though with the initial plan of buying a house after getting married, the Greater Taipei area real estate price is just too expansive for him to afford.
In order to allow more young adults to be able to affording a place of their own, the ministries of Finance is rolling out the second generation of the Home Buying Assistance program for young adults, increase the age range from 20 to 40 up to 45 year-old single of married individual who has no real estate registered under their names while their first purchase must be after December of this month.
The privilege is 1.5% interest on the loan for the first 2 years and 1.8% thereafter with the low rate applied to NT$ 5 million max for 30 years, from the original 20 years.
The program is only good at 8 governmental affiliated banks and offer cannot be combined with any other discount offers.
The governments program, according to many civic groups, is not enough to solve the problem of the high priced real estate prices.
The Ministries of Finance pointed out that, the pogrom is not going to exclude anyone based on income as it is designed to benefit all young adults, starting next month.
