Golf Prodigies
A group of aboriginal school children in Nantou have developed outstanding golf skills despite the lack of proper facilities due to funding shortage. And what's the key to their success? An unorthodox training method that borrows heavily from another sport.
Judging by these workout routines, you probably can't tell which sport these sprightly aboriginal children specialize in.
And you might even wonder whether it's a sport at all.
Yes, they're using golf clubs, but the balls they use look a lot like softball.
And what are they doing running the bases after each golf swing?
These kids are actually members of a Nantou primary school's golf team.
And the reason they use such unconventional equipment is simply because there isnt sufficient funding for them.
But financial difficulties can never stop a creative trainer from doing his job.
Their 50-year-old coach, Di-young, drives all the way from Taichung to Nantou twice a week to give them training sessions that incorporates baseball skills and rules.
And the amazing thing is, it works.
For the past two months, the primary school golf team has already won two championships in a row, which makes them confident enough to believe that one day, they will make their mark on the international scene.
