Time is needed before some students can get their normal lives back.

It will take another 2 days for the National University of Kaohsiung to resume class, and an entire week for Kaohsiung City's Wenzao Ursuline College of Languages.

The Wenzao campus experienced floodwater reaching as high as one-story, and with its materials completely drenched, the school is looking at an estimated damage of 100 million NT dollars.

Due to damage caused by a flooded tributary of Love River, Kaohsiung's Wenzao Ursuline College of Languages will remain closed for another week.

The tributary's water level has returned to normal since the weekend, but floodwater levels on the campus are still one-story high. More than 300 students responded to a plea for assistance issued on the school's website.

They are busy drying classroom materials and moving books out of basements, but school officials estimate that damages amount to at least 100 million NT.

On the 19th, torrential rains from Typhoon Fanapi began flooding the basements of National University of Kaohsiung buildings and students risked their lives to rescue their scooters from parking garages.

According to school officials, the basements of three campus buildings sustained severe flood damage and many facilities and instruments remain submerged.
