Taipei Aftermath in Taipei
Taipei city experienced strong winds and sporadic rain on Saturday night, with a small number of street trees and store signs torn down by the wind. On the other hand, the suburban Yangmingshan was hit much harder, with a couple of sizable trees on the Yangde boulevard totally uprooted. And the heavy metal gates of the nearby Chungshan Hall also fell down.
Wind and rain have already died down in Taipei City. But, the winds on Yangming Shan were still strong.
A tree that would take 2, 3 people to wrap around it, was up rooted near the NSB on Yangde Blvd.
Winds reached level 10 last night.
The fire department is already on the scene dealing with the tree.
The strong winds last night left a deep impression on workers at a fast food restaurant that worked throughout the night.
The entrance to Chungshan Hall on Yangming Shan is a wind funnel that does not have any protection.
The front gates were damaged by the strong winds. Taxi drivers that worked throughout the night said the typhoon didn't damage much of Taipei City.
Although the typhoon's strength has died down in northern Taiwan, rain will continue to fall on the area. People that venture outside should continue to be careful.
