A recent survey conducted by college students found that 60 percent of the dormitories have curfews while 40 percent of them have roll calls at night.

Now the young adults are asking for the schools to respect their liberty by lifting the petty regulations. While some are pushing for more independence, few have no problem being controlled.

Located in downtown Taipei, the dormitory of Tatung University accommodates 1,000 students in 4-bed rooms.

The dorm fee for each semester is only NT$10,000 and the demand is way above supply.

But since it's a student dormitory, there are some rules.

According to the panel that surveys rights of college students, that 60% of the dorms in the 49 colleges surveyed in Taiwan still have curfews and nearly 40% of which have evening roll calls.

The panel believes that the implementation of curfews disrespect students' skills to manage their personal lives.

Schools explain that students agree on the two regulations, which are done in a flexible manner.

While some students believe that college students are grown-ups and should be capable of taking care of themselves, therefore the curfew system should be abolished, some people hold an opposite opinion.

Most dormitories of private schools still have curfews.

Some schools stress that parents entrust schools with their children and support the rules so the system will remain unchanged in the near future.
