Taiwan Mania Hits Japan
Under the cooperation between the Tourism Bureau and a Japanese TV station, a special tour package for northeastern Taiwan has become a hit in Japan. Now the first group of Japanese travellers have already arrived, who generally find their experience here enjoyable.
The groups of Japanese tourists saw the program on TV Asahi on Taiwan, including Jeou Fun sceneries of nature and century old buildings, YeLieu, Keelong and decided to book the package.
With in 4 hours of the airing of the program, 387 people called in to sign up for the tour.
Japanese tourists are crazy about the mask of the faceless man, something that is in the Miyazaki Hayao cartoon Sen to Chihiro no Kamikakushi, which the inspiration was from a trip to Jeou Fun.
Tourism Bureau worked with TV Asahi to package the northeastern Taiwan, including Fulong, PingShiand Jeou Fun and activities including biking, sky lantern releasing, and tea shop experience.
The 3 day 2 night package cost a little over NT$20,000.
Tour operators said that, Japanese tourists are different when compared to Chinese mainland tourists because they like to experience the local way of life.
It is hoped that more tourists from Japan can visit Taiwan.
