Butterfly Station
We would like to show you Taiwans one and only Butterfly Station in Tainan County's Ganglin. The station chief, who is also a fan of blue tiger butterflies, came up with the idea of creating a butterfly habitat by planting the butterflies favorite plants around the station. As a result, he successfully attracted over 1,000 blue tiger butterflies. The station, which is often called "Butterfly Station," attracts tourists on weekends and holidays. It is now a tourist spot in the area.
Thousands of blue tiger butterflies flutter around the police station and land on the officers as they enter and leave the building. Four to five butterflies can be found on a single stalk of grass, and hundreds are dancing in the air. Tainan County's Ganglin Police Station also happens to be a butterfly sanctuary, and attracts many tourists on weekends and holidays.
The station's officers have become butterfly experts, and are more than happy to act as butterfly guides for the tourists. The sanctuary was created by station chief Lai Bin-chun, who discovered by accident that butterflies like to dwell in areas filled with this type of plant. He therefore collected seeds and planted them all around the station. When the plants began growing, the butterflies started arriving.
Lai says that he never could have imagined that his idea would attract thousands of butterflies, or that his station would become the most beautiful station on the island.
