Mobile Venders Banned
For those who frequently visit the Northern Coastline, they may remember the mobile coffee vendors along the coast as many people enjoy sipping coffee and admire the oceanfront scenery there.
However, the Tourism Bureau says it has received several complaints against the mobile catering services, which are accused of occupying pedestrian sidewalks and public areas.
Therefore the bureau is to organize a task force to investigate the situation.
However, those coffee vendors complained they don't have any guidelines to follow, since the Tourism Bureau hasn't come up with a concrete plan to manage the vendors, despite all the talks in recent years.
Mobile coffee vendors are a part of the view in the North coastline, which is a great location for people to enjoy sea breeze and coffee.
Many people come here especially for the coffee.
However, recently, the Tourism Bureau says it has received many complaints against the mobile coffee vendors, which are claimed to have occupied pedestrian walks and parking spaces.
So the bureau decides to form a task force to crack them down.
According to the Tourism Bureau, illegal vendors in national scenic areas are subject to a maximum fine of NT$50,000.
But the vendors are claiming innocence.
One vendor, who has been running business for nine years here, says the Tourism Bureau has claimed to provide a guideline for the vendors for central mangement.
But no progress has ever been made.
These vendors say that since the mobile coffee vendors have been one of the tourism features in the North Coastline and many foreign backpackers would visit the site,
they hope the Tourism Bureau can plan an area for them to set up the business, in a way that can preserve the natural scenery of the site, instead of simply targeting at mobile coffee vendors.
