A recent study shows that over 19,000 people have AIDS in Taiwan.

According to the Taiwan AIDS Foundation, over 70 percent of these individuals range from 20 to 39 years old.

In response to this rising concerns, the organization is raising awareness by coming up with a plan to fight the spread of the deadly disease.

Taiwan AIDS Foundation held a forum to discuss the results of Taiwan's aids prevention. The entire forum was posted online to share with the international community, and parts of the forum were in English. The foundation hopes to work with the global community to prevent the spread of AIDS. According to the foundation's data, over 19,000 Taiwanese have AIDS as of the end of June.

70% of those infected are between the ages of 20 to 39. The foundation promotes safe sex and regular checkups because AIDS can go undetected for 5 to 10 years. People can get checkups from their local community healthcare center. Although there are currently no drugs to cure the disease, early discovery and treatment can help maintain your health and prevent the disease from being passed on to the next generation.

The foundation explained if Taiwan's AIDS checkup rate reaches 90%, this can prevent 10,000 people from getting infected in the future 5 years. This will not only help save families, but will also save the country 200 billion NT dollars.
