Risks of Napping Facedown
This next story will apply to those that take power naps during the day to improve work performance.
Now, doctors are warning that one may be prone to major health risks if the sleeping posture is improper.
Here on CTS, let's get you the details on how to sleep safe and sound.
When we nap in the office, we usually sleep on our desk, placing our heads on top of our arms.
Now experts are stressing that this position is actually dangerous to our health.
With the head pressuring on our eyes, it can increase blood pressure, causing bloodshot eyes. The neck and chest are constantly in an arched gesture which can intensify the risk for heart and brain blood vessel diseases, as well as disrupting normal functions of digestive system, which may pose threats to respiratory and digestive tracts.
For those who have neck problems or have a history of strokes, napping facedown should be avoided because when the head is tilted on one side for a period of time, it slows down the blood flow in the arteries of the neck.
The best way to get a good rest is to lean your back against a chair or a wall, and make sure you have a pillow to give your neck a full support.
