Wai San Ding Offshore Disappearing
It's a matter of time before Wai San Ding, Taiwan's largest offshore sandbar disappears, and these students are taking a trip to visit this vanishing spot, which resides in the east coast of Taiwan.
These students board a tourist boat to visit Wai Shan Ding which is nearly 15 km off the coast of Yunlin and Chiayi.
It has an area of about 100 hectares, but year after year the area gets smaller and smaller, as sandbar also gradually moves south and probably in a few years it will gradually disappear.
Wai Shan Ding is currently under Yunlin County's administrative jurisdiction, but most of the area, moves southward by 70 meters each year now shifting to the coast of Chiayi.
The students experience here allows them to believe that everyone should try to maintain the diverse ecology of the sandbar.
There are many diverse ecological resources that can be found on this sandbar. But in recent years, it has slowly disappeared as it is now drawing the attention of students who had this opportunity to go to sea.
