Face-shifting Puppets
A glove puppetry troupe with some special skills has been invited by the Yilan's Center for Traditional Arts for an audience-pleasing showcase.
Let's check out this traditional performance that has incorporated some new acrobatic techniques.
From red to yellow, and to a face of a monkey, you can see these speedy changes, all in a split of a second.
This face changing technique influenced by Sichuan Opera is now seen in this glove puppetry performance.
First, watch this puppet making a full turn with its fan and spear, then to this figure holding on to this thin stick. Now, this one will make you feel slightly dizzy, by spinning 8 plates at the same time.
To make these moves possible, two people behind the stage need to share some good chemistry and exceptional talents.
