Child Abuse Case on a Rise
Child abuse in Taiwan is becoming a serious issue. Recent stats indicate a high number of child-murder suicides. Now the Taiwan Fund for Children and Families is taking the matter into their own hands, by organizing child protection programs this summer.
According to Taiwan Fund for Children and Families statistics, 37 children have been killed in 23 parent-child suicide cases so far this year.In other words, one child is killed by his or her parent every five days in Taiwan.Although schools promote the 113 child protection hotline and distribute "help" cards, statistics show that child abuse cases are on the rise.
With summer vacation approaching, parents and children will be spending more time together and teachers will not be able to assess the well-being of their students. The TFCF will be holding a series of child protection promotion events throughout the summer and is calling on corporations and communities to take on the role of good neighbors.
