GREEKS CLEAN UP DAMAGES AFTER RIOTS
With the flames dying down, the nation is now dealing with the aftermath of the violence that erupted, following the approval of a new package of austerity measures by the Greek Parliament on Monday. Authorities have started with the clean-up efforts by sweeping rubbles and debris off the streets of the battered and scorched capital.
Police say around 80-thousand protesters clashed with authorities, leaving 106 officers and dozens of civilians injured. 74 demonstrators were also arrested in the riot, with more than 45 buildings reported to be damaged by blazes and stones.
The latest austerity measure, which includes deep cuts in government spending, wages and pensions, is demanded by the country's foreign lenders in exchange for an emergency bailout.
