MIGRANT SHIP CAPSIZED, 200 MISSING
Dozens of asylum seekers who survived when an overcrowded boat capsized off the coast of Java receive medical care in a shelter. Many of them hope to hear from loved ones among the more than 200 passengers still missing as Indonesian authorities and local fishermen continue to search the waters.
An official said the boat had a capacity of about 100 people and survivors were found clinging to the wreckage when it sank on Saturday.
Many of the passengers are believed to be economic migrants from countries including Iran, Iraq and Afghanistan. Indonesia is a transit hub for illegal immigrants from the Middle East who cross the Indian Ocean in search of a better life in Australia. (Katharine Jackson/Reuters)
