COLD LAVA FLOOD KILLS VILLAGERS
Cold lava flows from Indonesia's Gamalama volcanoes surged through a nearby town killing three people. The flows were triggered by four days of heavy rain and caused extensive damage to the capital of the province.
Several people were treated in hospital after being hurt by falling objects or struck by rocks. The volcano, almost 2 kilometers high, erupted earlier this month forcing thousands of residents to flee. Indonesia the world's fourth most populous country is on the Pacific ring of fire and is prone to natural disasters. (Reuters)
