Champagne style meets beer-sized budgets, as luxury fashion house Versace launches an affordable clothing line at H&M department stores. At the star-studded New York launch, designer Donatella Versace called the moment bittersweet. Donatella Versace: "I think it was a great, great experience. I'm a little bit sad that's it's all over tonight, because the clothes are in the store.I worked with a fantastic team of people." Donatella decided to collaborate with the Swedish department store after receiving numerous requests for the label's iconic pieces. And British fashion journalist Hilary Alexander sees that legend in the clothes.Hilary Alexander (fashion journalist): "I think it's fantastic. I've actually got two shirts from the original Versace collections in the 90's which were a present from Gianni Versace. And am thrilled to see that they visited, or revisited that concept. Designer Donatella says four eras of Versace will be featured in the line. Donatella Versace: "It starts with an iconic black leather studs, then it goes through a print period, which is the Miami period, which is the one people know the most.Then goes through revolutionary Versace, the prints from my collections and shapes from my new collections until today." The night ended with performances by rapper Nicki Minaj and Prince. The collection will debut in 300 stores worldwide and online on November 17.
