OAKLAND PROTESTERS HEAD FOR 2ND ROUND
Demonstrators and police clashed in Oakland California Tuesday night, after more than 1000 people marched on city hall to voice anger over earlier Occupy Wall Street arrests. The trouble started at dawn, when police used beanbags and tear gas to disperse a group of about 350 protesters who'd been camping in a city park for two weeks. Police say no one was injured in the raid, but 85 people were arrested. Later, the group returned and tried to re-establish control of the park, but police continued to guard the area, and warned protesters they'd be arrested if they stayed.
OFFICER: "This has been declared an illegal assembly. Leave now or you are subject to arrest." The area remained cordoned off with metal barriades for the rest of the day. A city spokesperson said once the park was cleaned it would be reopened to day time protests only.
