41 RESCUED FROM TRAFFICKING RAID
70 women and girls originally from Myanmar and Laos were released after a trafficking raid in southern Thailand by district police and special investigators.
41 of them were rescued from their misery, saying that they were forced into prostitution. Among those who were forced into prostitution, half of the victims were under the age of 18. The other 29 said, they were working on their own will. They have since been fined and released.
Five suspects are now in custody, charged with human trafficking and illegally allowing illegal migrants to stay in Thailand.
