[1]Results from the first Joint Basic Competency Test co-hosted by Taipei City, New Taipei City, and Keelung City were announced.
Even though the tests for English and Mandarin are considered more difficult than the National Basic Competency Test, test center thinks that the students' performances are similar to past years.
It is estimated that the requirement scores to enter high schools this year are lower than last year, with a score of at least 400 to enter Taipei Municipal Jianguo High School and 398 to enter Taipei First Girls' High School.
20 out of over 70,000 test takers achieved full score of 412 points, with 10 from Taipei City, 6 from New Taipei City, 1 from Keelung, and another 3 from other municipalities.
Among the full score test takers, Hsieh Yu- Fang from the Jenai Junior High School said that she felt a little surprised when knowing that she got the full score.
The principal of Jenai Junior High School said that this year, it is estimated that more students will be able to get admitted to the top high schools, because single curriculum and teaching material maximize student learning and academic performance.
The test center says that 90% of the students participated in the joint competency test can apply for high schools with the test scores.
Students are encouraged to get enrolled with the scores, unless they find the scores unsatisfactory, and decide to participate in the National Basic Competency Test.&&
