To address the issue of insufficient passenger capacity of the MRT Wenhu line, the Taipei City MRT Bureau has retrofitted a total of 51 trains for operation, which are currently under testing and may soon be put to service if everything goes smoothly.

Its been a long time for these Matra yellow cars to be seen publicly.

Not much seems to have been changed, though the traffic surveillance systems, communications and signals have in fact all be changed over to the Bombardier system.

The Muzha Line's integration into the Wenhu Line included 51 cars which were not fully compatible requiring this conversion which was completed in February of this year.

After six months of testing, and another round on December 19th where there was a stress test and the compatibility of old cars and new cars potentially running smoothly together.

The current Wenhu Line has 101 new Bombadier cars and with these converted Matra trains it brings a total to 152 car available, potentially solving the problem of too few cars.

The Taipei Rapid Transit Corporation estimates that at peak traffic, the longest wait for a train would be 1 minute and a half with the city government deciding the schedule.
