CEREBRAL PALSY PATIENT ACHIEVES ACADEMIC GOALS AGAINST ALL ODDS
It's an inspiring story of personal triumph over adversity. A young man with severe cerebral palsy didn't have the chance to attend elementary school until the age of 15,
but through his own hard work and perseverance, now he has already earned a master's degree.
Before the age of 15, Chen Min-tse, who is a severe cerebral palsy patient, stayed home around the clock.
When he turned 15, he audited the classes where his two sisters studied in Soochow University and took part in college student activities.
This was when he started to venture into the world.
From the age of 15, he went to college classes during the day and worked on elementary school education at night.
Finally, he managed to graduate from college and got a master's degree.
His father says that many physically or mentally challenged kids are not stupid but they are not given opportunities.
Although Chen isn't able to write or flip pages to read, he relies heavily on computer.
He majored in IT in undergraduate program and studied digital media design in graduate school, this began his professional life in designing web pages and logos.
Chen says that if he is not working on his doctoral degree in the future, he wants to open his own studio to help more individuals with challenges like he has make breakthroughs.
He was the winner of the third Presidential Education Award and this year's Love Of Life Award, saying that the award means encouragement and he wants to work harder toward his goals.
