OVER 1M FLORA EXPO ADVANCE TICKETS STILL UNUSED
The Taipei International Flora Expo will officially close tomorrow, but up until Thursday, more than 1.3 million advance tickets have not been used yet, triggering public demands for refunds. But a city government official explained earlier this week that those tickets are not refundable according to policy.
The Taipei International Flora Exposition will close on April 25th, and scalpers selling tickets for 120 NT to 200 NT have begun appearing around Expo grounds in recent days.
According to official Expo statistics, 1.3 million of the 3.5 million non-refundable advance tickets previously sold have yet to be used. Taipei City councilors say that the Expo can only accommodate 120,000 visitors per day, and that there is no way every ticket holder can visit the Expo before it closes.
The councilors further added that ticket holders may have been prevented from using their tickets due to weather conditions and long lines.
The Taipei City Government, meanwhile, will be extending the Expo by one week beyond its official closing date to reward city government officials for their hard work.
In regards to the issue of refunds, the Department of Economic Development says that the no-refund policy was reviewed and approved by the Taipei City Council before the Expo opened.
