Already a popular tourist town, Jiufeng of New Taipei City may soon be upgraded into a sightseeing destination for international visitors. The local government has already set aside a budget of 300 million NT dollars to establish a renovated and expanded tourist district that will include Jiufeng and the surrounding areas of Jinguashi and Shuinantong.

Jiufeng, where the movie "A City of Sadness" was set, was revived due to the film's popularity.

With the nostalgic scenery, Jiufeng has charmed many visitors, who can explore the tea houses, old buildings, traditional cuisines along the staircase of Jiufeng.

In order to make it an international tourist attraction, the New Taipei City government has decided to sponsor 300 million NT dollars to renovate the area, including the Sheng-pin theater, the largest movie theater in Taiwan during the Japanese colonial period.

The renovation project, which is going to be finished by July, is about to be extended to surrounding areas such as Jinguashi, and Shuinantong.

The discarded office in Jinguashi will also be renovated into a new sight-seeing spot, where tourists can enjoy the beautiful mountainous view from here.
