COMPETITION OF DPP'S PRESIDENTIAL PRIMARY INTENSIFIES
The DPP's third televised policy platform presentation among its three presidential hopefuls will be held this afternoon. And in the previous session on Wednesday, former chairperson Hsu Hsin-liang openly questioned the other two primary candidates' stance on cross-strait issues, but neither of them gave clear and detailed answers.
During the DPP's second presidential primary policy session, Hsu Hsin-liang focused mainly on China policies and called the 92 Consensus a "stop gap measure."
While answering a prerecorded question, Hsu outlined his cross-strait goals, which included opening Taiwan to Chinese investors, students, and tourists, the signing of a mid-term "peace agreement,"
and the establishment of a long-term "European Union One China" framework.
He also directly questioned Su Tseng-chang and Tsai Ing-wen why the DPP only established the mini-three links during its eight years in power,
and asked whether the DPP would continue to maintain the current atmosphere of peace and stability across the Taiwan Strait should it return to power.
Neither Su nor Tsai responded to Hsu's questions, and both instead chose to speak only on the topics they had prepared.
At the conclusion of the session, Su blasted Tsai's camp for starting rumors that the pan-blue camp mobilized Farmers' and Fishermen's Associations to support him in public opinion polls.
In response to Su's calls for party unity, Tsai said that the race would not affect her friendship with him.
