FILM ON AUTHOR YU KWANG-CHUNG RELEASED
Chen Huai-en, the director of the movie "Island Etude", which sparked the craze for bicycle riding across the island, is now presenting his latest work. Through the documentary film involving the works of the prominent Taiwanese author, Yu Kwang-chung, the director hopes to give the audience an opportunity to know more about the life of the great poet.
In 1991, to commemorate the 35 years of marriage with his wife, Prof. Yu Kwang-chung published a poem "San Sheng Shi", which uses red candles as a metaphor to describe the newly wedded couple starting their life and supporting each other.
And when the candles burn till the end, the author hopes that they can cease the light at the same time, and lead the couple together to the darkness of night.
The touching words expressed Yu's deep affection toward his wife.
Prof. Yu Kwang-chung was born in 1928. He is one of Taiwan's prominent authors and poets, who has been publishing poems, articles, essays, and translated works since 1949.
Through the film, audience get to enter the world of Yu's poems and essays, such as "Nostalgia", "Sirius" and "Foreword" to enjoy his literary talent and to see a different side of the master.
The documentary movie "Xiao Yao You" is the latest work by Chen Huai-en, who is also the director of movie "Island Etude."
Chen said that through the film about Prof. Yu Kwang-chung and his poetry, he hopes to bring the audience into Prof. Yu's life and get to know more about the great poet.
