Held in April each year, this custom of Thai and Myanmar people and those in other Southeast Asian countries is like a New Year celebration.

Here in New Taipei City's Chungho area, Huaxin Street, there is a large population of Thai and Myanmar overseas Chinese.

From 1998 till now, they have hosted this Songkran celebration for those that cannot return home to their friends and families.

This year, the festival used fire department trucks and a special elephant as well as the traditional mascots of good luck in Myanmar, the swan and rabbit to sprinkle water and bring good luck.
