KMFA PRESENTS EXHIBITION OF MODIGLIANI
The Kaohsiung Museum of Fine Arts is going to present a unique exhibition of the works of the world-renowned early 20th-century Italian painter and sculptor Amedeo Modigliani, which will start from this coming Sunday till the end of July.
It took the organizers two years to make the exhibition possible in Taiwan. Here on CTS, let's have a sneak peak at the coming exhibition.
Elegant long faces delineated with simple lines, and portraits with long necks. These are all the most well-known works by Modigliani, who started a new chapter in early 20th century art with his neat delineation of women. His work now values over 100 million NT dollars.
The Italian artist, who worked with Italian classic artistic techniques, became known for his paintings and sculptures in a modern style characterized by mask-like faces and elongation of form. He has drawn and painted from a very early age, at 14 years old, and died at 35 from diseases.
However, his artistic reputation has grown ever since.
In order to make this exhibition possible, the Kaohsiung Museum of Fine Arts spent two years to collect 179 works, including the first poster Modigliani used during his first exhibition in 1917. The poster will also be exhibited at the entrance of the exhibition hall this time.
The exhibition, called A. Modigliani and His Circle, will start from April 10th to July 31st and those who are interested in his works are welcomed to witness the genius works.
This is also the first exhibition in Asia which showcases works that totally worth over 10 billion NT dollars.
