Balzac Exhibition Opens in Tainan
A special exhibition on Honoré de Balzac, the 19th-century French literary giant, opened this week in Tainan's National Museum of Taiwan Literature, showcasing nearly 300 objects that include manuscripts, letters and portraits of the master, many of which have never been on display in Asia.
French writer Balzac use literature to depict the multi-facet French society at the time.
His works provided people with a reference to the French society and established a new milestone in modern day novels.
Maison de Balzac is working with National Museum of Taiwan Literature to allow Taiwanese an opportunity to get to know Balzac better.
Comdie Humaine series made him famous, 2,500 fictional characters created by him, the topic of his works and the creative field impressed the world.
His works were translated into many languages and turned into stage plays and movies.
The National Museum of Taiwan Literature made cardboard signs of some of his fictional characters for the exhibition.
The Balzac manuscript on display would also allow people to understand more about the great French writer.
There are other writers private collections on display, the public can get to know the private lives of the writer and the relationships between him and other artists.
