Entering the fairy tale world of Hans Christian Andersen is something that is already familiar to many young children and adults.
Born in Denmark to a normal family that battled poverty, he was able to develop his keen sense of observation at an early age.
He also had a rich imagination as his life was much like that of a ugly duckling.
He is known as the fairy tale master, especially for young children who are now familiar with his works.
He wrote The Little Mermaid" based upon his own feelings of love and during Napoleon's campaign in Europe which led to a period of social unrest,
leaving many families poor and vulnerable, he wrote the "The Little Match Girl." This story won over many fans for its sad ending which is different than many other fairy tales. Often, the endings of his stories are neither perfect nor sentimental.
Instead, Andersen used his unique style to try and convey reality.
He also wanted readers to face of the reality of social conditions.
Despite this, his stories continue to be read and are still in circulation for 2 centuries, and with the end of year holidays, many adults and children are returning to his works.
