RENOVATED TERMINAL OF SONGSHAN AIRPORT
The renovated second terminal of Taipei's Songshan International Airport opened yesterday, with the entire building now devoted exclusively to domestic flight services. While some travelers said they've been impressed with the new interior design, others complained that they are not allowed to register their baggage at the check-in counters as they used to.
The second terminal of the Sungshan Airport begins its operation today.
The new check-in counters are different from before.
Given the cost concerns from the Civil Aeronautics Administration, the new check-in counters do not allow taking check-in luggages.
The lady who travels with her elder parents finds it a bit inconvenient having to walk a bit further to check in the luggages.
The revamped Terminal 2 claims that it only takes travellers to walk 200 steps from check-in to boarding and it is also equipped with convenience stores and coffee shops, which charge regular prices.
On the first day of the new terminal's operation, some travellers go to the wrong terminal or are unable to find the boarding gate.
Minister of Transportation and Communications Mao Chi-kuo says the related authority will enhance the effort to provide better instruction of routes.
The Far Eastern Air Transport, which is planning to resume the business, sends flight attendents to promote the news on the day and it estimates to operate the first domestic service to Kinmen on April 18th.
It will also operate cross-strait chartered flights after its applications are approved by the authority in charge.
