OVER 1200 APPLICANTS VIE FOR 35 FLIGHT ATTENDANT VACANCIES
The booming market for cross-strait air travel has entailed a growing demand for flight attendants. On Friday, a domestic airliner started a recruiting session in Taipei, and the competition turned out to be extremely stiff, with more than 1200 applicants vying for 35 vacancies.
With their hair combed neatly into a bun and trapsing in heels, job applicants for new flight attendent position openings are each given only thirty seconds for a self introduction.
To win the favor of examiners, applicants are pulling out all the stops.
The applicant pool of 1200 people consisted of recent graduates, people from different industries looking to change careers, and even people with experience in foreign companies.
With only 35 vacant spots to fill, the 2.5% yield is causing everyone to be nervous.
TransAsia Airways is into its third day of the recruiting process for flight attendents.
The number of applicants continue to rise each year.
As the economy regains momentum, both local and foreign airline companies such as Singapore Airlines have posted position openings.
