PRESIDENT MA GRIEVED OVER PUB FIRE
Meanwhile, President Ma Ying-jeou and Premier Wu Den-yih both expressed their grief over Sunday's nightclub fire in Taichung, while vowing to start a thorough review of existing fire safety laws as well as their implementation. And the Control Yuan has also begun its own investigation into the accident.
A Taichung nightclub fire claimed nine lives and has led to new concerns about safety in public spaces.
President Ma Ying-jeou and Premier Wu Den-yih today expressed sadness over this accident and asked for relevant ministries to undertake a thorough review of fire regulations.
President Ma also pointed out that risky performances in restaurants and entertainment venues should be monitored as well as enforcement of maximum capacity which relevant departments will review.
Control Yuan members have already carried out an investigation into the Taichung fire and Premier Wu Den-yih said the Executive Yuan will fully cooperate with the investigation to prevent such tragedies from happening again.
