KMT INTERNAL FEUD OVER BY-ELECTION
The legislative by-election of Tainan has created an internal strife in the ruling party as some politicial officials were rumored to have refused to join the race on behalf of the party.
And National Youth Commission minister Wang Yu-ting was said to be one of them.
Wang was said to have submitted her resignation to Premier Wu Den-yih over the weekend,
and KMT Secretary-General King Pu-tsun expressed his anger at the news yesterday.
In the legislative by-election of Tainan, KMT legislator-at-large Chen Shui-hui says she's willing to run the election, a move that also triggers the controversy.
Incumbenet National Youth Commission minister Wang Yu-ting said that she would submit a written resignation to Premier Wu Den-yih when she received an interview with print media.
But on a radio show, KMT secretary-general King Pu-tsun said Wang was simple going too far by submitting resignation.
Coming from the background of a political family in Tainan, Wang lost the last legislative election.
When the KMT returns to power, she was offered a position in the cabinet and was considered one of the important talents of the new generation.
Now she decides to quit the job as she refused to run the legislative by-election.
This infuriates the secretary-general, saying that Wang is only taking advantage of the party over the years.
Another political official who is said to refuse to run the race is incumbent minister of Mongolian and Tibetan Affairs Kao Su-po.
Kao is also a Tainan native.
When asked for comments, the two officials were said to be in a meeting this morning and were unable to explain to the public, thus leaving the controversy unsolved.
