Following KMT's losses on the legislative by-elections in southern Taiwan, Legislative Speaker Wang Jin-pyng said that the turnout rate has been too low to show the party's core support. Premier Wu Den-yih also expressed his hope for KMT to get ready for the year-end legislative elections.

President Ma Ying-jeou, premier Wu Den-yih and legislative speaker Wang Jin-pyn made a rare appearance on stage together as they attended the blessing ceremony organized by I-Kuan Tao.

They talked about Confucius Thinking and Chinese culture at the event.

But when asked by reporters on the losses over the legislative by-elections in Southern Taiwan, legislative speaker Wang Jin-pyng believed the biggest problem was the low turnout rate, which failed to safeguard the core support.

Premier Wu believed the KMT-nominated candidates Chen Shui-hui and Hsu Ching-huang are both new talents of the party and they weren't given sufficient time to prepare for the elections.

The party should review the losses and get ready to prepare for the year-end legislative elections, with extra attention given to Southern Taiwan.

Even though President Ma went to Southern Taiwan to campaign for the two candidates for several times, the efforts didn't seem to pay off as the number of votes that DPP got is a lot higher than that of the KMT,

which serves as a warning in the year-end legislative elections and the 2012 presidential election.

For the ruling party, planning the campaign strategies for the two cities in Southern Taiwan is a matter that cannot wait.
