LEFTOVER MEDS CAN LEAD TO DANGEROUS SIDE EFFECTS
Some people would take leftover medicines instead of getting a doctor's appointment for a prescription when they feel unwell. However, experts are warning the public about the hidden dangers of doing so because it may lead to serious side effects such as drug overdose, drug resistance or even permanent damages to the liver and the kidneys.
Of all the red painkillers and fever reducers, it is hard to determine the dosage of each, while mixing them could have different results and side effects.
Many people would think that they could deal with their discomfort by consuming left over prescription drugs; however, it might be harmful to the body.
Although doctors prescribed all the pills, each drug targets different virus and different symptoms; taking random medications could result in rash, side effects or the person may go into shock.
A 40-year-old patient in Taichung who is allergic to painkillers but didn't know which kind he is allergic to, went into shock after ingesting the wrong drug and almost died.
The best way is to store the doctors prescription along with the pills.
