Hehuanshan's First Snowfall in 2011
It's the first snowfall for Hehuanshan this year. With the cold mass coming in, the temperature has dropped tremendously to minus 2 degrees Celsius,
giving people a first glance at the white scenery yesterday morning.
As for the next few days, the weather will warm up a bit, but make a note that temperatures will differ greatly, about 10 degrees between night and day.
A cold wave is also expected to hit the island on Thursday.
Hehaushan saw its first snowfall of the year, making the area a sort of white, winter wonderland attracting lots of people to the mountains.
This group is quite happy, as they dance around despite the low temperatures, as they dress in thick coats, scarves and hats.
Their desire to play in the snow is too great, as they create a snowman, and engage in a snowball fight, as they seem to have no fear of the cold.
This cold air mass along with water vapor led Hehuanshan to see snowfall, as the whole area turned into a beautiful white expanse.
From this satellite view, we see the northeast monsoon winds increasing, bringing more water vapor, leading to snow in the high mountains.
This air mass will remain until Wednesday, and gradually lessening with the south-central seeing daytime temperatures of 26 degrees.
However, on Thursday, a new cold air mass in the north will lead temperatures as low as 11 degrees. With the south central area going to 13 and 14 degrees, many may have another opportunity to see snow in the mountains.
