In order to make the flag-raising ceremony especially memorable on the first day of the one-hundredth year of ROC, the County Government of Nantou has prepared a gigantic version of the national flag measuring 40 meters long and 25 meters wide, which can tower up to 8 stories high when fully lifted up.

Due to the size of the 40-meter long, 25-meter wide national flag, it takes two tow trucks to raise the flag up the flagpole.

As the eight-story high flag reaches the top and waves in the breeze, the students below feel a stirring sense of patriotism.

Many expressed amazement over the size of the flag, and said that they felt like they'd suddenly been transported to a giant's world.

The flag was commissioned by the Nantou County Government for a special New Year's Day flag-raising ceremony at Chunghsing New Village.

Seven schools and more than 2,000 students will attend the ceremony, and form a special message with their colored hats. January 1st, 2011 will be the first day of the Republic of China's centennial year.
