Firsts in Yilan
In honor of the culture and accomplishments of Yilan, a special exhibition is currently held by the county government that features a number of pioneers in its history, including the first public Taiwanese Opera troupe, Lanyang, and Taiwan's first gold medallist in the 400 meter hurdles at the Asian Games, Tsai Chen-fu, who is also a Yilan native.
The audience is mesmerized by this dazzling Taiwanese opera performance by Lanyang Taiwanese Opera Troupe.
This is the First of Yilan festival, sponsored by the Yilan County Government to promote the place.
Other than to perform at this event, it is also to celebrate the fact that Lanyang is the first government funded Taiwanese opera troupe.
Along with the Beiguan master, the host of this event is Chang Han-yang, who has won 11 Golden Melody awards.
With so many firsts, this event is mainly to promote how many firsts has Yilan produced, including people, places, and incidents.
In total, there are 117 pieces of work and record.
Tsai Chen-fu, the first 400m hurdles winner at the Asian Games, and a local of Yilan, also attends the event.
The exhibition takes place in a tunnel that represents the Hsuehshan Tunnel, for others to get to know Yilan.
This event will go till next April and it is not to be missed for those who visit Yilan.
