Cultural Fest Resumes
The annual Festival of Austronesian Cultures in Taitung has resumed after the break last year because of Typhoon Morakot. The aborigines are inviting the public to join their event that demonstrates the beauty of their culture. Other tribes from abroad will also take part in the festivity, promoting and exchanging their traditions.
In its 11th year, Festival of Austronesian Cultures in Taitung has invited all the winners of Best Aboriginal Singer category in the Golden Melody Awards to come back to Taitung and sing the beautiful voice to present the beauty of Austronesian culture in Taiwan.
The theme of this year's festival is a traditional canoe of Dawu tribe in Lanyu.
And the event hopes to help aborginal people, who were affected by typhoon Morakot, move on and continue to carry on the indigeous culture while boosting tribal economy.
The 10-day festival begins from November 19th and lasts 10 days in Taitung County.
Besides local performances, there are performing groups from Hawaii, Madagascar and Indonesia.
The annual festival provides a rare opportunity for different tribes to engage in cultural exchange and for visitors to enjoy the splendor of native and indigenous cultures.
