Baldness And Immune Disorders?
After conducting a test on more than 4,000 patients, the researchers at the Taipei Veteran Hospital have discovered that baldness may be somehow related to immune system disorders.
Doctors are recommending those who are experiencing signs of baldness to seek medical advice immediately to find out what's really causing the loss of hair.
Ms Yang, who works at the financial sector, has been under a lot of stress and having trouble sleeping.
She then found out that she has patchy baldness.
So far, the cause of such baldness is unknown still, but it may be linked to failure or disruption on the immune system, the changing of mood or hormones.
Therefore, a group of researchers at the Taipei Veteran Hospital are finding out the cause of this baldness among 4,300 volunteers.
In the research they've found that it actually does have a connection to the compromise of the immune system.
If a 10 year-old patient gets patchy baldness, they are 10 times more likely to have lupus.
For 11 to 20 year-olds, the chance of getting atopic dermatitis is almost 4 times higher than normal people.
From 21 to 60, however, the chance of getting vitiligo is 3 to 9 times higher and for those who are 60 and above, getting atopic dermatitis is about 6 times higher.
According to the doctors, those who are suffering from patchy baldness should have it checked immediately to see if there is any damage in the immune system in order to prevent greater damages from happening.
