Airline Industry Recovering
After the signing of ECFA, major airlines have stepped up their hiring efforts to capitalize on the expanded market of cross-strait air travel. Starting next month, both Cathay Pacific and Singapore Airlines would start a new round of recruiting in Taiwan, seeking mainly flight attendants and maintenance mechanics.
As the economy slowly recovers, businesses like airlines are also picking up.
This seminar is held for local and some international airlines that are recruiting, and more people than ever are attending.
Including the international carriers, four airlines are recruiting in October.
Most of them are looking for Taiwanese pilots, in total around 400 seats, and offers around NT$250 to 300 thousand a month.
Then there is the recruitment for flight attendants and mechanics, which are expected to recruit 800 people for each position.
Even though pilots seem to get the best deal, there is much knowledge and time to be invested before this door is opened; however, even though flight attendant seems like a glamorous job for most, the shelf life is short.
Therefore, most people are aiming for the mechanics.
In order to get the most of it, all of these applicants at the seminar are listening attentively to the explanations, hoping to get a foot in to the industry.
At the same time, prep schools for the airline tests also warn that even though the airline business may seem glamorous, it actually demands long and unstable working hours, and is physically demanding.
So for those who are interested, make sure that you are making the right decision before investing time into it.
