Ferocious Winds Hit Miaoli
The Miaoli government officials found it especially hard to walk outdoors under the ferocious winds brought by Typhoon Fanapi. They had to lock arms together in a group of three to avoid being literally blown off their feet.
Fearing of water intrusion, the officials from Miaoli local government went to Houlong Beach to survey the area.
The wind is so strong that these three grown men have to walk arm in arm to prevent themselves from tumbling over.
The reporters on the side also have to grab on to the lamp pole to keep a foothold, as the cameraman trying hard to keep the camera still in focus.
All the people at the scene are holding on tight to whatever they can get their hands on, or squatting as firmly as they can to keep still.
Even the magistrate Liu Chen-hong needs help to climb the stairs.
As typhoon Fanapi approaches on the east coast, the people in the central part of the island can already feel its power.
