Girls Needed
One fourth grade teacher is struggling to maintain order in his classroom.
In this class at Miaoli County's Nanhe Elementary School, you cannot locate one female student. Even the last one
The teacher of this fourth grade class has to have the patience of a saint to deal with his students.
The class only has male students, and they are often unruly and disruptive. The island's low birth rate has contributed to an increasing gender gap, and the effects can be seen in this classroom.
The class originally had one female student, but the girl's mother had her transferred to another school out of concerns that she would become a tomboy.
School officials have thought about remedying the situation, but feel that their hands are tied for the time being.
Therefore, they can only hope that some female students will transfer into the school next semester, and help bring order to the classroom.
