Education Subsidy Program
To help lessen the financial burden for parents, the Ministry of Education has announced an 18-billion-NT-dollar-subsidy program for 5-year-old children who are entering kindergartens.
Those who have an annual household income below 1.1 million NT dollars, will receive full support if their children attend public kindergartens, and the government will provide 30,000 NT dollars for those that choose to send their kids to private schools.
The plan will first apply to families living in the offshore islands and aboriginal townships starting this September, followed by the eligible applicants across Taiwan next year. It is estimated that about 75 percent, or more than 154,000 little ones will benefit from this proposal.
