In the wake of two recent H1N1 related deaths, the Centers for Disease Control is urging the public to pay extra attention to flu-like symptoms. Meanwhile, a doctor is also warning that H1N1 virus may reappear this fall in a mutant form.

28-year old Mr. Hsu came down with a fever and developed a sore throat in April. Believing that he had caught a cold, he failed to seek medical attention.

He was diagnosed with H1N1 during a routine physical exam, and ended up being hospitalized for 44 days.

Due to damage to his lungs, he is still undergoing physical therapy.

Statistics show that H1N1 has killed 45 people since last year, with most of the victims being in the 16-49 age range.

At the same time, only 4% of people between the ages of 19 and 24 and 30% of the total population have been immunized against H1N1.

According to a domestic epidemiologist, a mutant strain of H1N1 will likely strike this fall and trigger a new pandemic.

The Centers for Disease Control has purchased new vaccines that protect against both seasonal flu and H1N1, and will make them available starting in October.
