Taitung County's first red tea manufacturer, Hsin Yuanchang, established itself in Luye 40 years ago. But the factory announced it would stop making red tea in 1998 when imported tea overtook local red tea. 　　Local residents have transformed the old red tea manufacturing facilities into a museum to show their appreciation for the manufacturer. This museum also allow visitors to understand the pain it takes to make red tea and for local residents to think back on old times. 　　The tour leader take the children back to 40 years ago. Hsin Yuanchang, Taitung County's first red tea manufacturer, allow these children to understand how red tea was produced in the early days. These machines were stopped in 1998 when oolong tea replaced the red tea industry. 　　Wen Tseng-kun, who is known as the godfather of Taitung's tea, was the first to introduce and plant red tea in the county. Wen's death almost caused Taitung's red tea history to disappear. But to show appreciation to this factory that helped care for the community over the years, Yungan Community transformed this facility into a red tea museum with the help of the Council for Cultural Affairs. 　　Red tea in the early days were packaged in plastic bags. Today, red tea has another offspring, known as honey red tea. It has been well received by consumers. This old factory is again producing red tea, as if it witnesses Taiwan's red tea industry's up and downs. The old factory has also become a museum to allow visitors to share in the history.
