BIG-SCREEN VERSION OF "21 JUMP STREET"
Co-stars Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum not only play best "buds" in their new film, "21 Jump Street," they are actually very good friends in real life.
The two star in the film that shares its name with the popular '80's cop show that launched the career of Johnny Depp, but that's where the similarities end.
In the action-comedy 21 Jump Street, Schmidt (Jonah Hill) and Jenko (Channing Tatum) are more than ready to leave their adolescent problems behind.
Joining the police force and the secret Jump Street unit, they use their youthful appearances to go undercover in a local high school.
But they find they have to confront the terror and anxiety of being a teenager again and all the issues they thought they had left behind.
Jonah Hill: "Honestly, we just wanted to not freak out about adapting something and focus on making a great movie and focus on reliving the most important part of your youth in reliving high school.
Thinking you have all the answers and realizing you have none of the answers. We wanted to make a 'Bad Boys' meets a John Hughes movie. I think that is what we made and we are stoked about it."
Co-directed by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, the film also stars Ice Cube and Rob Riggle. "21 Jump Street" opens on March 16.(John Russell/ Reuters)
