MOST EXPENSIVE CRASH EVER?
The latest pileup in Japan, involving 14 luxury sports cars may just be one of the costliest car crashes in history.
10 people suffered from minor injuries in the collision in the southern prefecture of Yamaguchi on Sunday, involving 14 super cars, including eight Ferraris, three Mercedes-Benzes, a Lamborghini and two Japanese vehicles.
The super cars alone were worth around 300 million yen, or around 3.8 million U.S. dollars. According to witnesses, the automobile enthusiasts were going beyond the speed limit, doing 140 to 160 kilometers per hour.
Police believed that the crash took place when one of the drivers tried to switch lanes and hit the median barrier instead. The highway was shut down for over six hours.
